DIRECTIONS FOR USE The Educational Film Gui^e, published annually, indexes and describes 16mm films. This 1959 Annual Supplement, which contains 1,642 films, is to be used with the 1954-1958 volume. Each film is described on the basis of information obtained directly from the main source. Listing of a film does not in any sense constitute a recommendation. This list is divided into three parts as follows: Part 1. Title List. Each film, fully described, is arranged alphabetically by title. Part 2. Subfect Index. Each film is indexed under the subject or subjects covering it The subjects used are based upon Sears List of Subject Headings. Crossreferences to more specific subjects or related subjects are provided where needed. Part 3. Directory of Main Sources. The abbreviations used for the main sources in the alphabetical Title List are given with full names and addresses. A sample entry in the Title List is analyzed below: EARTH SATELLITES— EXPLORERS OF OUTER SPACE. EBP 1958 17min sd b&w $90. rent S3. 50; color $180. rent $5.50 el-Jh-sh-c-ad Guide Explains how man-made satellites stay aloft, and describes what is learned from satellites and things to come in the space ajfe. LC card Fi A 59-139 This sample entry includes the title of the film, "Earth Satellites — Explorers of Outer Space"; its main source (abbreviated), "EBF"; the year of release, "1958"; rimning time, "17 min"; the fact that it is a sound film "sd"; the purchase price ($90) and the rental fee ($3.50) for a black and white print and the purchase price ($180) and the rental fee ($5.50) for a color print. The abbreviations eN/A-sA-c-od indicate the interest levels for which the film is intended (see key below) ; and a teaching guide accompanies the film, Guide. The main paragraph is a brief factual description of the contents of the film. This is followed by the Library of Congress (LC) catalog card number and the Educational Film Library Association (EFLA) evaluation card number whenever these are available. Sources. For purposes of ordering films reference should be made from the abbreviation which follows the title to Part 3, Directory of Main Sources, in the back pages. Orders for films should be sent directly to the source — The H. W. Wilson Company does not rent or sell films. Prices. When only one figure is given for the price, this represents the pnrcftote price. The word r^nf precedes a rental charge (usually not including postage) for the use of the film for one day. Free-foan signifies there is no charge for the use of the film (although the borrower may have to pay postage) and the film must be returned to the source. PvrcAose app\^ and r^nf apply are used when the source does not wish to specify price. All price information is obtained from the main source. Prices and sources are subject to change without notice. b&w rev sd si DO NOT SEND ORDERS FOR FILMS TO THE H. W.
