Manual of German manufacturer and distributor of projection tools with an emphasis on education. The manual explains the optical laws of how projection works, how to operate diverse projection apparatus – magic lanterns (also called sciopticons or stereopticons), dissolving views, epidiascopes and film projectors. It treats the operation of diverse light sources, the manufacture of slides for projection including several possibilities for adding color. In another part, it explains how to use a magic lantern and projected images in a lantern performance to demonstrate physical, chemical and optical experiments as well as explain special effects achieved by animated slides. 134 Das elektrische Glühlicht. Ein wesentlich kräftigeres Licht liefert die Projektions- Nernstlampe, deren neues Modell mit selbsttätiger Zündung in Fig. 65 dargesteilt ist. Die Lampe wird für alle Betriebsspan- nungen von 100 bis 160 und 200 bis 260 Volt hergestellt; ihre Lichtstärke wird bei 110 Volt auf etwa 500 Kerzen und bei 220 Volt aut. etwa 1000 Kerzen angegeben. Der Brenner hat 3 senkrecht angeordnete Leuchtstäbe, für deren jede ein Glüh- lampenwiderstand vorgesehen ist. Während die Zündung früher Fig. 65 Projektions-Nernstlampe. von Hand mittelst einer Spiritusflamme geschehen mußte, er- folgt diese jetzt innerhalb 2 bis 3 Minuten automatisch mittelst eines Heizkörpers, der sich alsdann selbsttätig ausschaltet. Bei Gleichstrom ist es von größter Wichtigkeit, die Pole + und — richtig anzuschließen, da die Lampe sonst sofort ver- sagt. Man stellt die Pole der Zuleitung am sichersten mit Pol- reagenzpapier fest. Es ist ferner zu beachten, daß die Leucht- fäden sehr zerbrechlich sind; man fasse den Brenner, der auf die 5 Kontakte aufgesteckt wird, nur am Porzellanstein an.
