Manual of German manufacturer and distributor of projection tools with an emphasis on education. The manual explains the optical laws of how projection works, how to operate diverse projection apparatus – magic lanterns (also called sciopticons or stereopticons), dissolving views, epidiascopes and film projectors. It treats the operation of diverse light sources, the manufacture of slides for projection including several possibilities for adding color. In another part, it explains how to use a magic lantern and projected images in a lantern performance to demonstrate physical, chemical and optical experiments as well as explain special effects achieved by animated slides. Man hat Apparate gebaut, bei welchen die zu projizieren- den Gegenstände auf eine horizontale Fläche gelegt werden; diese eignen sich daher vorzüglich zur Projektion von Photo- graphien, von Abbildungen aus Büchern, Albums usw. Außer- dem werden Apparate dieser Art gerne so eingerichtet, daß man sie durch eine einfache Umänderung auch zur Projektion von Diapositiven verwenden kann. Das hier in einer schema- tischen Darstellung wiedergegebene Epidiaskop hat einen elek- trischen Scheinwerfer, der ein paralleles Strahlenbündel liefert; dieses trifft gegen den Spiegel und wird von diesem nach unten auf den Objekttisch geworfen. Ein Teil der von dem Objekte zurückgeworfenen Strahlen gelangt in das darüber be- findliche Objektiv, welches in Verbindung mit einem Spiegel
