37, King Street, Covent Garden, London, W.C. 2 957 LANTERN WORK IN VILLAGES. In submitting the following list of Illustrated Talks for the consideration of those desirous of promoting Educational work in villages by means of the Lantern, Messrs. Newton are anxious to call attention to the wide range of subjects available. Many applications are coming to hand for information concerning the nature of the slides provided, and the type of Lantern required. Messrs. Newton will be glad to give full details as soon as they know what is needed. When writing, particulars should be given as to the length of the Hall and the size of the Screen, etc., and whether the Lantern is required for Sale or on Hire. There has been so great an awakening of interest in all branches of Lantern work that it has been found necessary to visualise almost every subject of importance, and special efforts have been made in the provision of slides for Village Lectures. In addition to the splendid series of Empire Lectures which will be found in Section 5 of this Catalogue, there are many arranged Readings of a popular nature which, without much trouble to the lecturer, will prove most interesting and attractive to the audience. In most cases the Lectures are so written that they may be read, but it is preferable for the lecturer to put them in his own words, using the printed Lectures merely as notes. Increased hiring facilities have been arranged allowing a more liberal margin of time for the transit of the slides, so that Lecturers may have ample opportunities fo preparation. Reduced rates of hire are available under subscriptions, see particulars on page 1017, of this Catalogue. EMPIRE LECTURES. Arranged by the Visual Instruction Committee, Royal Colonial Institute.
