PIONEERS FULL COLOR SCREEN TELEVISION ! <5>CBS 1945 This is the approximate quality of the new CBS postwar television -fine-definition -in full and natural color. On October 10, 1945 the first experimental broadcast of bril¬ liant, full-color television in the radar frequencies was success¬ fully achieved by CBS. As nearly as the printer's press and inks can accomplish, the picture above reproduces the quality of the new CBS HighDefinition Television in a section of a picture measuring in full 7 W x 10". Note the tones. Note the depth of definition: fea¬ tures, patterns, jewels, play of lights. Thus the long search by CBS for pictures really great (not just passable) has passed perhaps the most important mile¬ stone in the new art. The event was certainly of first impor¬ tance to everyone concerned with television. Much remains to be done, much is being done, to put this new, brightest form of television in your hands. You may be sure that CBS is doing all it possibly can. THE COLUMBIA BROADCASTING SYSTEM
