July 16, 1932 EECOMMEiroS FULL TIME ST. LOUIS LOCAO (continued) Recommending favorabiyy on the renewal of Station WIL, for full time, the Examiner concluded the station is financially and tachnically able to continue opera«* tion; that WIL is rendering an acceptable broadcast service; that the record discloses no violation of law or of the rules and regulations of the Commission; that the sta¬ tion has been operated successfully and in public service; and that the use of full time would give the station an opportunity to extend its service and improve the quality of its programs. EECOMMEULS AGAINST STATION REMOVAL The application cf Station WJW to move from Mansfield to Aliron, Ohio, was reccmmended for denial by Examiner Hyde this week in Report No. 387c Station WJW is lic¬ ensed to operate full time with 100 watts on 1210 kc, Tlie application was filed with the intent of giving to Akron a non-chain broadcast service, supplying time without charge to such organizations as the Alcron City Mission, the Akron Ministerial Asso¬ ciation and the University of Akron, At present there is one station located in i^kron. This is Station WADC operat¬ ing full time with power of 1 KWc Xn addition, according to the testimony, service is received from cleared channel and regional ste.tio-s located in nearby communities. AO evidence was presented to show what service is received at Mansfield, in addition to that rendered by the applicant. However, the Examiner cited testimony given by the applicant at a previous hearing, wherein it was stated no other station came in¬ to Mansfield dependably at any time. In his conclusions. Examiner Hyde found there was no substantial need sho’vn for the additional service at Akron and considering the two communities of Akron and Mansfield, the latter would appear to have considerably fewer sources of dependable broadcast service than the former. It was said also that the granting of the pro¬ posed removal wo^d probably create additional interference with the service of other stations on adjacent channels. REC0M1G3NDS DENIAL TEXAS APPLICATION The application of Q,. C, Taylor, Austin, Texas, for authority to erect a new station on 1500 kc with 100 watts and unlimited time was recommended for denial by Examiner Hyde this week in Report No, 384. The applicant requests the facilities of Station ENOW now operating on 1500 kc at Austin In his conclusions , the Examiner found the applicant was qualified legally to hold a broadcast license, but nothing in the evidence indicates he has any past exper: ence which would warrant the grant¬ ing of the application. Tlie Examiner further held the proposed program would permit the rendition of a meritorious service, bnt the applicant failed ‘co show with any degree of definiteness what means would be used to accomplish this parpose. In connection with the renewal application of Station KFOW, it has been recom¬ mended that chis station be iissued a temporary license and the Commission investi¬ gate fully the affai'rs of the licensee. It appears the* station is 'Jicenserl to the KUT Broadcasting Company, but the evidence shows the stati .u is in charge of one M.
