Richard Stanton, director, after a visit to the continent, has returned to London. Marcus Loew has gone to Canada, and from reports now current he is negotiating to buy up the Swanson and Nolan Theatres. Constance Binney has started work on her latest production at the new Famous Players Studios at Long Island City. Morris Gest, Famous Players and Metro seem to be in a three-cornered fight about the production of "Aphrodite." Lillian Walker has just been offered the star role in a Broadway production to be put on shortly. D. W. Griffith Studios are vacationing while D. W. Griffith himself is preparing his new story. James Vincent, president of the M. P. D. A., is making preparations for the launching of the Vincent Productions. Gareth. Hughes has arrived in New York and will play one of the principal roles in "Sentimental Tommy" for Paramount. Doris Kenyon is returning to pictures. Marguerite Clayton is to be starred by Fox and Hope Hampton is finishing a picture with Jack Gilbert. Harry Reichenbach has sold all of the United States with the exception of New York on the new Clara Kimball Young Pictures. Robert G. Vignola and his crew have gone to Sands Homstead at Sands Point, Long Island, to photograph exteriors for his coming production. R. Bradley, director general of the Bradley Feature Film Company, is another director who is in New York with a print of the 'picture called "The Woman Men Love." Paul Powell, the director of "Pollyanna," sails on the 30th for London, where he will take hold of the reins in directing for Famous Players. Wray Physioc, having just completed the picture called "The Blonde Vampire," has been engaged as the director for the Muriel Ostriche Productions. L. J. Gasnier has arrived in New York with the print of "Kismet," and is making preparations for a private showing which in all probability will be held at the Astor Hotel. Edna May Sperl, who has been co-starrinR with Edgar Jones for the last year in a series of two-reel Northwoode Dramas, will soon start work on a new five-reel production in which she will be featured. Gardner Sullivan, scenario writer, has returned from abroad, where he spent several months gathering material for new stories, as well as taking a well-earned rest. Mr. Sullivan has closed a contract with Messmore Kendall for several productions a year. Director Jerome Storm is patterning after Oriffith by having all his players rehearse two wepks bpforo "shooting" any scenes. All the Lillian Gish-Frohman Amusement Company pictures will be made this way.
