Who's Who on ihe Screen AL GREEN Al Green was born in Ferris, California, July 11, 1892, and is, therefore, one of the youngest directors of the screen. He began his theatrical experience in a "cheap musical comedy," he says, as "anything" in 1911 and toured the middle west. The same year saw him enter the film world—as camera-boy! From this humble position he rose steadily, and was associated with a long list of stars as assistant-director and finally, director, in which capacity he is now acting for the Goldwyn productions, starring Jack Pickford. He is married to Vivian Reed and his hobby is "his boy." 371
