Which makes it unanimous! Variety of Stunts Puts [ Drive in Miami Starts Off Over Drive in La Crosse with 100 P.C, Efficiency , La Crosse, Wis. — The motion picture industry drive in La Crosse. Wis., shifted into high this week with a proclamation from Mayor A. C. Boerner, and the endorsements of the local Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, Lions and Kiwanis., and A F of L unions, together with radio plugs, plenty of publicity in the local newspapers, a local contest with cash and theater tickets as prizes on why motion pictures are your best entertainment, and a campaign parade. Also attracting wide interest was a two-day "Man in the Street" contest with theaters awarding tickets to those answering questions pertaining to the campaign and movies in general. This Quiz contest went over the air, with a local commentator conducting the questions and answers, and drew large crowds where it was spotted in busy sections of the city. Levenson Boston Head Boston — Max L. Levenson, head of the Levenson Circuit, has been named chairman of the New England division in the industry ad campaign. Butterfield Houses In Detroit — The 100 houses of the Butterfield Circuit should be added to the original list of 58 theaters in Michigan participating in the industry drive, Chairman H. M. Richey said this week. Butterfield houses, by last compilation, have a seating capacity of 88,282. Michigan will raise $25,000, and approximately 250 theaters will join the contest, Richey said, with more pledges coming in daily. The Miami campaign of Motion Pictures' Greatest Year is registering plenty of enthusiasm, according to Walter R. Early, of the Paramount Circuit in that city. Miami and Miami Beach, Coral Gables and Hialeah have issued several hundred thousand Movie Quiz booklets, and the policy in that area, Early reports, is to confine booklets to those interested. To stimulate that interest, on the other hand, 100 local employes of the Paramount circuit have been making a house-to-house canvas, obtaining registrations for the contest, and explaining the rules in great detail. In each theater lobby, a personable young lady takes registrations, having each person sign name, address and telephone number, impressing upon them the dignity and importance of the contest, and at the same time obtaining an excellent mailing list. All theaters have gone overboard on lobby displays and marquee decorations. Managers meet regularly for round table discussions on how to advance the campaign. Early's opinion is that the local campaign is gradually approaching 100 per cent in efficiency, and that the co-operation has been first class. Quiz Gets Truck Display Boston — All delivery trucks of the Boston Sunday Advertiser are carrying large signs featuring the Movie Quiz contest, as the initial contribution to the industry drive on the part of J.
