Finds Newsreels Improving Newsreels have in the past year increased the quantity and diversity of their subject matter and are a whole lot more interesting, it was said yesterday by F. C. The mortgage will be {Continued on Page 2) RKO Will Make "Time" Middle of Month Release To maintain a balance on the RKO short subjects schedule and to better meet the booking demands of circuits, RKO has changed the "March of Time" release to the middle of each month, it was announced yesterday by Jules Levy, sales chief. Release was originally slated to start Aug. 2. First issue under the RKO releasing arrangement now is set for Aug. 16. AMERICAN EQUIPMENT FOR SOVIET STUDIOS Probability of large-scale installation of American equipment in Soviet studios and film laboratories was voiced yesterday by B. Shumiatski, president and general manager of the Soviet motion picture industry at a press conference. Shumiatski said that he had been studying various types of equipment for use in motion picture production and had practically concluded to use American equipment. Exploitation Post Jack Goldstein, publicity director for the RKO New England theaters, is understood slated to take over Morroe Greenthal's former position as exploitation head for United Artists. Greenthal was promoted to succeed Hal Home, advertising publicity chief, who resigned last week. St. Louis — On or before Sept. 9 the Federal Government must furnish RKO Distributing Corp. and its president, Ned E. Depinet, bills of particulars in the anti-trust case against that corporation, Warners, Paramount, et al, according to a ruling by Judge George Moore coincident with setting Sept. 30 as the date for the trial. Reel Approved West Coast Bur., THE FILM DAILY Hollywood — Recommendations for the adoption of a 2,000-foot reel as the standard of the entire industry were approved last night at a meeting of the Research Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. It is proposed to put the larger size reel into general use starting Jan. 1, 1936.
