Philippines Turning Out 25 Pictures This Season Product output of the Philippines will amount to 25 features during the current season, according to F. C. Henry, Paramount manager for that country, who is now in New York. This represents an increase of 10 pictures over the past year, he said. Dual-featuring in the Philippines i? confined to neighborhood houses in Manila, said Henry, who declared that audiences in that country prefer spectacles and pictures with plenty of action. Columbia Film for Roxy Columbia's "If You Could Only Cook," with Herbert Marshall, Jean Arthur and Leo Carrillo, will open Christmas Day at the Roxy. Pathe Film Pfd. Dividend Quarterly dividend of $1.75 on the $7 cumulative preferred stock has been declared by Pathe Film Corp., payable Jan. 2 to stockholders of record Dec. 23. Handling Dionne Dolls Tieup Master Art Products has closed a deal to handle exclusively the Dionne Quintuplets dolls in the theater field for the U. S. and Canada. The dolls are given away free in theaters through tieups at no cost to the theater, with campaigns running either 14 or 30 days. Stebbins and Ann Darling, film actress, took place here Wednesday. Eight French Features In Next Para. Program Paramount will have eight French features, produced at its Joinville studio, on its next season program, stated John W. Hicks, general foreign manager, yesterday upon his return to New York on the Washington after a visit to France and England. Six of the pictures will be produced during the next few months, while the rest are carryovers from the past year, he said. Business in England is very strong, Hicks stated, and in France conditions are improving. Goldwyn to Make "Hell and Texas" West Coast Bureau of THE FILM DAILY Hollywood— "Hell and Texas "an original screenplay by Edward Chodorov and Jane Murfin, staff writers for Samuel Goldwyn, has been acquired by the United Artists producer for early production. It is a drama about the creation of the Texas republic. Joel McCrea may have a leading role in it. Owen Davis, Jr., Signed by RKO Owen Davis, Jr., young Broadway leading man, has been signed to a term contract by RKO Radio Pictures and leaves to report at the Hollywood studio tomorrow. Davis is the son of the prolific playwright. B. & K. Preferred Dividend Chicago — Balaban & Katz has declared a dividend of $3.50 against accumulations on the 7 per cent preferred stock. On Sept. 28 the company paid $1.75. R. S. Wallace a Kentucky Colonel Alliance, O.— R. S. Wallace, general manager of Tri-Theaters, Inc., has received a commission as a Colonel of Kentucky.
