January, 1948 FILM INDIA llage children and is considered a j unique educationist because of Ijthis. Now begins the usual marmage tangle, in which Dayal. without of course knowing that (Radha is his own daughter, breaks up the wedding ceremony of Mohan and Radha to save the zamindar's, imaginary prestige and Iprove his own loyalty to the fajmily. The final scene is quickly reached and after mutual recognitions and introductions, Radha lis at last handed over to Mohan. That ends Clunjal's tommy-rot. ROTTEN DIRECTION The production values are as .•rratic as the story. The technique of opening a shot on trees and skies and then bringing the jpmera to the characters has no rhyme or reason unless the director wants to emphasize the season, the weather, the clouds or the gathering storm which affect the theme of the story. Gunjal ioes this every time and it looks diotic without any psychological eason. The technical work is poor. The ongs and dialogue are very poor stuff with no idea, idiom or peet-y anywhere. The music is dreadilly boring. The direction of the picture is ust rotten. In fact, it is no diection at all but jusi waste of ime and energy. FUNNY KOLHATKAR Only, Motibai, in the role of r.hxmi, plays her part well and with some intelligent understandng of her role. Chmtamanrao Kolhatkar, who plays Dayal Vlama, continually fancies himself jn his old stage and throws his By nostrils into the air at a Tazy sngle at the least provocation. His dialogue is delivered with a special Kolhapuri accent tnd sounds funny. Urmilla plays 'Radha" and does not look a chool teacher at all, nor does the veighty Anand look a hero with i hull's neck and thick features. Tn short, "MangaJsutra" suceeds only in giving us a splitting leadache.
