INTEODUCTION Having lost all our electrotype plates, cuts, and catalogues in. the great fire, November 9, 1872, we are obliged to get out a new- edition, and have taken the opportunity to enlarge and improve it. Since the commencement of this establishment, in 1835, a con- stant effort has been made to perfect and simplify the construction of the various apparatus. That these efforts have been successful, may be inferred from the steady increase of business from that time to the present, and the general satisfaction expressed by customers in regard to the manner in which their orders have been executed. The peculiar nature of the business, derived, as it is, from all sections of the country, and the consequent inability of the purchaser personally to inspect or select what he wishes, render a reliance upon the integrity of the dealer highly necessary. This having been the first establishment to publish a catalogue and list of prices, it has been our aim to furnish the purchaser the very best instruments and choicest pictures that our judgment and ex- perience can procure, at the same time our object will be to sell them at the very lowest prices that we can afford. We have carefully availed ourselves of every additional im- provement to the Magic Lantern, and have always on hand a very large assortment of beautifully executed Slides, to which we invite the attention of teachers, superintendents of Sunday schools, pub- lic lectm-ers, and exhibitions.
