YVog of the Salt Lake Paramount Famous-Lasky exchange, left last week for a trip into Idaho and Montana. Salesman F. S. Gulbransen of the local sales staff for Paramount was back in the office for a short stay and then left for the Uintah Basin. H. R. Cantwell of the National Screen Service office is making an extended sales trip throughout Southern Utah, from which territory he will go into New Mexico and Colorado, working toward the Denver office. Fred Brown and Bob Mark of the Rayart Pictures Incorporated have been in this city from Denver and left last week to return to the Denver office. Manager James R. Keitz of the local Rayart Pictures Exchange states that he will leave within a few days for an indefinite period, during which time he will cover the entire state of Idaho and also the Wyoming territory. Al O'Keefe, local exchange manager for the Pathe branch in this city has been working the key points of Utah. L. W. Weir, Western Division Manager for Pathe, went through this city enroute to New York a few days ago, at which time Manager O'Keefe accompanied hiin as tar as Ogden, Utah. Salesman Jock Connors of the Pathe exchange here returned last week from a trip into Nevada. Manager O'Keefe will leave the Pathe office here for a swing into Idaho and Montana within the very near future. A new Film Row store has just been completed and opened on East First South Street here this past week, and a prize is being offered according to radio announcements, for the most suitable name for this new lunch room and confectionery store. Chas. Whipple of the Electric Theatre at St. George, Utah, spent some time at the Salt Lake Film Mart last week, as did J. H. Miller, of the Cameo Theatre at American Fork. George H. Thomas of the Gem theatre at Rigby, Idaho, just completed a business trip into California and called at the local Columbia Exchanges enroute back home last week. Donald Fields of the Star theatre at Lyman, Utah, also attended to his bookings along the local Exchange Row last week. CONTRARY to a report received here recently, the Strand Theatre at Madison will not be closed for the summer months and according to Art. Desormeaux, manager, it will run seven days a week. Charles Bauman, manager of the Star at Oshkosh, was visiting at exchanges recently and disclosed his plans for celebration of his 71st birthday in the fall. Mr. Bauman, it is generally conceded, is the oldest active exhibitor in the state. The Weisner brothers, Max and Ed., have recently acquired new cars. S. Olson, manager of the Pastime Theatre at Delavan, and Dan Kelliher, southern Wisconsin exhibitor, announced that they had combined forces on the Pastime, and that Mr. Olson would continue active management. Harvey Hanson, manager of the Palace at Antigo, reported that business is booming in his section of the country. Ben Koenig, secretary of the Film Board of Trade, has moved into his new offices at 834 Empire Building. R. C. Wheeler, manager of Lloyds' in Menominee, Michigan, was a recent caller at the exchanges. (J. Reifel, manager of the local Paramount branch, will leave shortly on a ten weeks' leave of absence which he is planning to spend in the east. J. A. Craker will take over Mr. Reifel's duties during his absence. John A. Cameron recently purchased the Grand Theatre, at Pickford, Michigan, from George Elliot. Gilbert Eiles has closed the Butterfly Theatre, at Sheboygan, for an indefinite period. Morris Abrams, exploiteer for M-G-M Minneapolis branch, was in the city for a week on business. Walter Rourke, manager of the Pastime Theatre at Horicon, dropped in on film row last Wednesday. Dorothy Wood is new cashier at the Tiffany exchange, succeeding Kay Showalter. Roy Bassett, Paramount representative, was married recently. According to word received here the Empire Theatre at Juneauj managed by H. Priebusch, has been closed. Margaret Ashton, secretary of the new Eagle River Amusement Co., of Eagle River, was a film row caller last week. The new theatre has as yet not been named. The Opera House, at Edgar, and the Opera House at Thorpe, have been reported closed for an indefinite period. S. B. Rahn, Branch Manager from Denver for the Tiffany organization, is making a visit of about ten days in this city. Charlie Hamal, newly appointed branch manager here for Tiffany left for a trip into Cache Valley. Other exhibitor visitors seen conferring with branch managers here this past week include : John Rugar of the Egyptian, American and Orphcum theatres of Park City, Utah; J. F. Wright, who operates the Star theatre at Kinkley, Utah, and F. P. Larson of the Egyptian theatre of Boise, Idaho. District Manager Rosenwald of the Universal Film Corporation, left the Salt Lake exchange after spending about one week in this city, and has now headed for Denver. Tony Hartford, local branch manager for Universal, is making the key points surrounding this city. Salesman E. M. Gibson has left this exchange for Idaho. C. C. McDermond, salesman for Universal, received two honor pins from Carl Laemmle for having led the office during eight consecutive weeks in sales. David Bershon, Western Divisional Manager for United Artists, spent several days visiting and conferring with Manager Fred Gage of the local exchange, after which he left for Denver. Sales representative Able Davis is making points in Idaho and Wyoming for United Artists. Milton Cohn is back with the United Artists sales staff. Mrs. Nell Schreiber who operates the Rialto theatre at St. Anthony, Idaho, was in the United Artists office last week. C. M. Pace of the Delta and new Capitol theatres at Delta, Utah, was also a visitor here. Pace announced that he will open his new theatre some time during July. Manager Fred Lind of the F B O exchange here, is in Montana where he intends spending a month. A new salesman has been appointed to travel throughout the Montana territory for F B O in the person of Wm. Hughart who was formerly associated with Pathe in Butte. Hughart takes the place of John Dickson who resigned some time ago. George Jensen is at present working in his Utah territory for F B O, T. J. Walsh in Eastern Montana and Barney Shooker is in Idaho. Ben F. Rosenberg, District Manager for Fox, has spent some time at the Salt Lake branch. Manager Chas. Walker of the Fox office, has completed a sales trip into the territory. The Metro-Gold wynMayer sales force is at present distributed throughout the territory.
