12 THE MOVING PICTURE WEEKLY Broken "Blossoms No. 257 Straight from the Shoulder Talk by Carl Laemmle, President^ Universal Film Manufacturing Company EAST spring various producers and distributors blossomed forth with marvelous promises to the trade. Whole sections of the trade papers were taken up with blatant announcements, showing how each distributor or each producer intended to play the role of Moses to the lowly and bewildered exhibitor. Each and every Moses in the business "descended" to the level of the exhibitor and actually encouraged the flattered exhibitor to call him "Moe" for short.
