We use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) during our scanning and processing workflow to make the content of each page searchable. You can view the automatically generated text below as well as copy and paste individual pieces of text to quote in your own work.

Text recognition is never 100% accurate. Many parts of the scanned page may not be reflected in the OCR text output, including: images, page layout, certain fonts or handwriting.

Winners of Our Screen Opportunity Contest ETHEL PAYNE of the MacDonald Apartments, Valencia Street, Los Angeles, California, was born in Liverpool, England, about nineteen years ago. She was educated there, also, and came to America, in 1914. After attending high school at the Academy of Idaho, for two years, Miss Payne let ambition lead her to Los Angeles. She has been a gown model there for the past year, and feels that her good fortune in winning the Screen Opportunity Contest has opened the way to a brilliant future.
