This information, released August-September of 1940, is the latest official figure available/ Local advertisers alone were responsible for $37,315,774 of that income! U. S. broadcasting stations derived more income from local advertisers than from either the national networks or national and regional buyer of spot advertising. This means, radio stations received a greater percentage of their total income from local radio time-buyers (the laundry, the dairy, the bakery, the department store, the clothier) than from any other single group of time-buyers!
