I 40 REEL and SLIDE Rothacker Claims Rights to New Process In the May issue, Reel and Slide Magazine described in full a production known as "The Ghost of Slumber Mountain." Credit for this production was given to Mr. Herbert M. Dawley. The following letter, together with an affidavit, has been sent to Reel and Slide : Reel and Slide Magazine: In view of the recent publicity on "The Ghost of Slumber Mountain," in which full credit for this novelty production was given to a Mr. Dawley, I believe that you will be particularly interested in the attached affi^ davit. By referring to the program of the Strand Theater, New York City, for the week commencing November 17, 1918, you will see that Mr. Willis H. O'Brien is given full credit for the production of this subject. I will appreciate it very much indeed if you will read this affidavit carefully, retain same on file and bring it to the attention of your editor. Very truly yours, W. R. ROTHACKER. The affidavit is signed by Willis H. O'Brien, who deposes that he applied for patents covering this process in 1915 and that the models of the prehistoric animals were made by him. Mr. O'Brien is now and has been for some time in the employ of the Rothacker Film Manufacturing Company. The Rothacker Company, according to the affidavit, own and control all rights, title and interests in the process. Her Bow," Outing-Chester release No. 11, which pictures the source and early life of the Mississippi River. Through the efforts of J. F. Cubberley, manager of the First National Exhibitors' Circuit of the Northwest, the association has learned of the subject, and many of the official have viewed it at a private showing. As a result, the big travel-promoting organization is backing it and interesting every citizen and society it can reach. " 'Itasca Makes Her Bow' surely will go over big here," Mr. Cubberley states, "as it is very near and dear to all exhibitors in the territory." While screening this release with its unusual local interest, Mr. Cubberley, taking thought of the many prominent exhibitors also present, screened the Outing-Chester big game double release, "Cameraing Through Africa."
