Bill Wink, Warner Brothers, was elected vice-president ; Bob Hirz, Warners, treasurer ; Leon Alendelson, Warners, and Paul Back, RKO, secretaries ; and Pat Halloran, Paramount, sergeant-at-arms. United Artists Manager Don V. McLucas is back at work after a hospital visit. . . . Joe Scott, ZOth-Fox manager, attended a divisional meeting in Chicago. . . . Universal-International Manager Harold Johnson was guest speaker at the annual meeting of the First Christian Church. . . . Merrill Fie and his father, Lyle, have purchased a water softening business in Watertown, S. D. Merrill takes over active management ; his father will run their theatre at George, la. Universal-International Inspectress Inez Miller is back at work after a lengthy and serious illness. . . . R. J. Ralston sold the Amusa Theatre at Fonda, la., to A. F. Meuting, former exhibitor at Ewing, Neb. . . . Arlo Davidson has closed the Lennox (S. D.) Drive-in for the winter. RKO Salesman Mort Eichenberg, Jr. had his auto damaged when a truck ran it off the road. He got the car out of the ditch, turned it around and caught up with the trucker after a long pursuit. . . . Harold Struve, recent purchaser of the Ritz, Deshler, Neb., is remodeling the building formerly housing the theatre and switching its locations. . . . Don Gibson, owner of the Niobrara, Springview, Neb., keeps busy in the mornings on a watch repair business in his basement shop. HARRISBURG In conjunction with the just-ending Pennsylvania Week the new documentary film on the Keystone State was run by city theatres. Much of the 'film was shot in this locale because of the State capitol. ... A "Can You Top This?" show was produced by Loew's Regent Manager Sam Gilman for the Kiwanis Club, of which he is a member. He was also active in planning the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, a Kiwanis benefit, which opened at the State Farm Show Arena with virtually all exhibitors present in boxes. . . . Paxtang Owner Dr. Samuel Goldstein has added a pair of antique chairs — 200 and 300 years old — to his foyer furnishings. New projectionist at the Lemoyne in Lemoyne is Charles Heller, Ben Peters having returned to Gettysburg College. . . . New employes at the Senate in Harrisburg are Betty Hughes, Ann Materazzi and Helen Shaull. . . . State Assistant Manager Spike Todorov, wife Wilma and young daughter Linda have returned from a motor trip to Florida. . . . State Usherette Betty Orris is officially a year older. Lorch, Screen Guild Productions, Chicago, visited the local branch on business. . . . Vogue Theatre Manager Fred Sorrells and Mrs. Sorrells are touring Texas while on vacation. Universal Assistant General Sales Manager E. T. Gomersall, and District Manager Peter Rosian from Cincinnati spent Wednesday through Friday here. . . . Tommie O. McCleaster, manager, 20th-Fox, attended the division and branch managers' meeting in Chicago. . . . The Westlake Drive-In, built by Ernest and Paul Voight has had equipment installed and an early opening is expected. The Lakeland at .\ngola has also been equipped. Swing Your Partner A tri-state square dance contest which started with various regional eliminations wound up on the stage of the Strand in Cumberland, Md., where Manager Johnny Manuel had the musical assistance of the locally well-known Mountain City Ramblers. The latter have a daily radio show, which resulted in many plugs. Now a rival station is interested in a weekly contest at the theatre. Universal has promoted A.-^.sistant Booker Gene Klein to office manager, succeeding Dick Stafford, resigned. . . . RKO Manager Joe Emerson has promoted Booker John O'Brien and engaged Harold Copeland as salesmen, replacing Sam Appleman and Dan Wagner, Appelman is entering the restaurant business ; Wagner will announce his plans later. . . . Manager Robert Lotito of the Denver Alladain has been promoted by Fox Intermountain to city manager of its theatres in Pocatello, Idaho, where he succeeds John Denham, promoted to a similar job at Great Falls, Mont., where he succeeds William Steege who has retired. Intermountain also transferred Keith May from the Fox, Delta, Colo., to manage the Aladdin in Denver. Universal District Manager Foster Blake conducted a sales meeting here with Manager Mayer Monsky and Salesmen Frank Green, Harold Michaelis and John Gillan. . . . Warner Short Subjects Sales Manager Norman H. Moray was here for a two-day conference with Manager Earl Bell and then proceeded to the west coast. . . . Henry Friedel has returned from MGM's sales meeting in New York. . . . United Artists District Manager William T. Keith was here conferring with Manager Clarence Olsen. Mickey Gross has resigned as Wolfberg Theatres general manager and will go to California. ... At Service Theatre Supply 0. W. Dale has been named office manager, Joe Kelly, installation man, and Earl L. Ibanez, bookkeeper. . . . Frank H. Ricketson, Jr., entertained Spyros and Charles Skouras returning from an antelope hunt in Wyoming to the west coast. BOSTON RKO Publicist Ralph O. Banghart has -been exploiting pictures in Greenfield, North Adams and Pittsfield the past week. . . . Bert MacKenzie, formerly and for years publicity man with MGM, visited friends in Boston last week. MacKenzie and his wife are now living on their farm in New York state. . . . The Milton Transcript, one of the better known weekly newspapers of this area, has put in a column of motion picture theatre notes. VANCOUVER A second daughter was born to the Odeon Hastings Manager Bob Fraser and his wife. . . . Odeon Hastings Assistant ^Manager Marke Watkins is pinch hitting for two weeks while Fraser Theatre Manager Brenton Kelly is vacationing. . . . Famous Players Capitol Assistant Manager Earl Barlow has been transferred to the Cineman in the same capacity, succeeding Frank Dwyer who resigned to enter other business. Studio Theatre Manager Micky Goldin is in solid with his patrons : on a recent rainy night he supplied all those waiting in line to buy tickets with umbrellas. . . . British Columbia Projectionists local 348 is huddling with circuit executives on a new agreement for booth workers ; its contract expired last month.
