A great deal of valuable information about arc lamps and their optics is packed into a small, pocket-size booklet put out by HeyerShultz, Inc. It details the reason for, and importance of, matching lens speed and reflector speed ; tells how to determine the reflector working distance for any given lens speed, and explains the optical details of reflector action. Additionally, it describes the HeyerShultz optica! reflectors, how to install and how to maintain them ; and explains the use of both the company's pin hole aperture plate for aligning optical elements, and split aperture plates for balancing light from two projectors. (#1) CLEANING AND SHAMPOOING. Effective cleaning of theatre screens, drapes, ornamental surfaces and upholstery ; and in pJare shampnoine: of carpets, are pictured and explained in a four-page folder by National Super Service, Inc. The bulletin describes the best methods of using the Super vacuum cleaner, and technical details of the cleaner itself (#2) DRIVE-IN CORDS AND CABLES. Retractile, spiraled "Koiled Kords" for in-car speakers, and ."Teleseal" underground service wire for inexpensive wiring of drive-in areas, are described in literature issued by the Whitney Blake Company. Four feet of coiled -up speaker cord extends to approximately 25 feet, if necessary, but retracts to its original length when released. Twisting, tangling and trailing of speaker wires are eliminated where Koiled Kords are used. Teleseal underground wire is copper, electroplated with lead, which in turn is plated with brass, insulated, and then jacketed in neopretie over the insulation. (#3) DRIVE-IN "PACKAGE." A 16-page, 3-color hooklet issued by Ballantyne Company describes in detail the drive-in theatres that organization is prepared to design, build, equip, and deliver as a completed "package" ready to operate. All the purchaser needs to do is turn the key and start his show, the booklet asserts ; and adds that such drive-ins, planned and ' built on a mass scale, cost the purchaser $10,000 to $30,000 less than any comparable theatre he could build for himself. A very complete description is given of the services Ballantyne offers to render and the materials it will supply and install. (#4) GENERAL CATALOG— for every part of the theatre — is issued by S.O.S Cinema Supply Corp. Nearly a thousand items are included in its 64 pages. Prices are given, and are highly competitive. Whoever buys anything for a theatre will want this free catalo.e: handy for reference. (#5) . LENSES. Included is a list of fittings, by means of which anv Kollmorgen lens can be used with any of 23 models of American-madei projectors. (#6) MARQUEE SAFETY LETTER. Adler Silhouette Letter Company's new plastic "Lok-Li-i" letter is featured in a new 4-page, 2-color bulletin issued by that company. The letter, it is stated, cannot blow off or fall off the rails under any conditions of wind or w-eather because of a new, integral construction tliat holds it safely, yet permits it to be installed and removed instantly. Aside from describing the new letter, the bulletin pictures seventeen different marquee arrangements for attracting the public. (#7) PROJECTOR MECHANISM.
