Theatre managers are sent publicity material from which they make up their window displays and prizes are awarded to those adjudged best in selling the washing powder and in selling tickets for "Julia Misbehaves." Take for instance, Manager R. G. Francis of the Regal in Chester, who succeeded in getting all 12 local branches of the Cooperative Wholesale Society to arrange ambitious displays in their windows. Manager H. ClaytonNutt of the Broadway, Eccles, went Francis nine windows better, getting 21 CWS displays in that town. For a local incentive, Clayton-Nutt offered a two-month pass to his theatre as a first prize in addition to the national prize of $60 and a two-week holiday for two presented by MGM. Business was so good that the manager, by consulting his records, found it almost reached a new high for the house.
