/ — /= ^s// N- BELL & HOWELL'S FILMOSOUND 138J In it are embodied a host of new features lending greater flexibility, plus the same basic engineering principles that have made the other models so successful. Filmosound 138-J is the Bell & Howell answer to the demand for an enclosed 138. It is a two-case job, with its projector fully enclosed in a "blimp" case. The second case contains a 12-inch speaker. The projector provides both clutch and reverse so that the operator can emphasise or review any portion of the film, and it may be used for silent as well as sound films. This two-case Filmosound is particularly suitable for use in Schools, Halls, Institutes, and the Home — in fact, wherever the audience and projector occupy the same room. Filmosound 138-J has an exclusive speaker-hiss eliminator, which is especially desirable at low sound volumes; "floating film" protection; 750-watt lamp; 1600 ft. film capacity. These features, plus the fact that the sound volume and picture brilliance are adequate for audiences up to 500, make Filmosound 138-J a popular model for the majority of occasions. The new model 1 38-F is the same single-case Filmosound which has been so widely accepted for smaller audience use. but to it have been added reverse gear and still-picture clutch, as well as many minor improvements. The standard 8-inch speaker is regular equipment. Another improved Filmosound is the 130-D, the powerful 1000-watt Auditorium model. It has now an amplifier smoothly styled in the modern mode with popular sloping control panel, and capable of an unusually high output. With twin speakers, switch control so that single speaker, when used, cannot be overloaded, and new microphone input circuit. This model is available in four combinations — one or two projectors with amplifier, and one or two speakers. vVhen two projectors are used there is no interruption in long programmes, for as one machine is switched off at end of reel, the other is automatically started. The twin speakers mean not only improved sound distribution in large auditoriums, but they also provide an efficient system capable of handling the unusually high output of the new amplifier. Fuller particulars of these efficient Fitmosounds wilt be sent on request. BELL & HOWELL Co. Equally effective on both safety and standard film, it does in no way affect the dyes of Kodachrome, and is equally suited for splicing colour film. This new cement forms splices that are actually stronger than the film itself. It does not absorb moisture from the air, and is much less subject to deterioration — a standing disadvantage of previous cements. The safety and standard film cements formerly supplied by Bell & Howell are both superseded by this new cement. A really permanent splice is, at last, possible. "\= ^AN y
