Entwicklung zum Kinematographen 1874 Der französische Astronom Jules Janssen konstruiert den photographischen Revolver1), der, durch ein Uhrwerk betrieben, 48 Aufnahmen in regelmäßigen Zeitabständen auf eine ringförmige Platte aufzunehmen gestattet. Er hält mit dem Apparat den Vorübergang der Venus vor der Sonne in einer Reihe von Momenten fest, in Zeitabständen von je einer Sekunde. Die sprungweise Bewegung der Platte geschieht durch ein Stiftrad. Auch zwei englische astronomische Expeditionen zur Beobachtung des Venusdurchganges benutzen nach Janssens Vorschlag eingerichtete Apparate für 50 bzw. 60 Aufnahmen2). Janssen wies auf die Verwendbarkeit seines Revolvers für Bewegungsaufnahmen von Menschen und Tieren hin, aber auch auf die Schwierigkeiten bei kurzen Zeitintervallen3) (vergl. 1882 Marey). *) Bulletin de la societe de Photographie 20, 197, 1874; 21, 28, 1875; 22, 99, 1876.
