Film Rentals FILM rentals from all sources in Canada decreased slightly in 1960 by about 2.7 per cent compared with 1959, or $910,817, the total being $32,495,678, according to the Dominion Bureau of Statistics. The overall him exchange receipts at $32,893,347 were $2,876,787 smaller than in 1959. Of 1960’s $32,893,347, rentals of films for theatrical use totalled $24,739,111, for TV $7,387,680 and other non-theatrical use $368,887. Sale of advertising brought $124,060 and other sources $373,609. In the $32,495,678 of actual him rentals $23,229,803 came from 35 mm. and $9,265,875 from 16 mm. During 1960 there were 52 him dis¬ tribution companies operating out of 121 exchange offices, compared with the 49 companies and 119 branches in 1959. The 52 hrms employed 940 per¬ sons, 49 fewer than in 1959, and paid out $3,822,995 in salaries and wages in 1960.
