Treasury, Breakfast Club appeared at bond rallies, service camps and institutions. More than $25 million in bonds were sold at one Chicago bond breakfast. When Walter Blaufuss retired because of ill health, Harry Kogen, Joe Gallicchio and Rex Maupin shared the baton. Don was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree at St. Bonaventure College and radio listeners named him "Star of Stars.” Breakfast Club and Nancy Martin also won awards. Fan mail was getting bigger all the time. An Ohio listener topped the contributions this year with a letter measuring 7 by 5 feet.
