In a complaint that constitutes the opening broadside In a legal action for Sl.000,000 against Henry Ford, tne auto manufacturer, the Vitagraph Company of America declares that the defendant "caused to be published In not less than two hun- dred and fifty newspapers published In the United States and circulated broadcast throughout the United States and Canada, and elsewhere, an article entitled 'Humanity and Sanity,' in which lie charged In substance that tlie general agitation then prevailing in this country for preparedness and defense of this country against foreign in- vasion was due to the efforts of munitions manu- facturers to promote their selfish interests, and that "Tha Battle Cry of Peace,' a film manufactured and produced by the plaintiff at great expense, to wit, $250,000 more or less, was inspired by one Hudson Maxim, a manufacturer ot munitions of war, in the Interest of munition manufacturers for the personal and selfish gain and interest of said w«rtm, and others interested wltii him In the manufacture and sale of munitions." The summons in the action was served on Henry Ford Aug. 21. The action will come up for trial In the Supreme Court of New York. ACTORS' FUND GETS $7,200. Charlie Murray, al- lowing himself to be run over by a hansom cab, had one foot so badly bruised that he was out of the picture for a week. Two stage carpenters, assisting in a boat scene, upset, were dashed on a rock, and rescued •uncon- scious by life savers. Altogether, the production of the picture was delayed three weeks by the laying off of injured performers.
