The theatrical season will soon be In furl swing, all houses being brushed up at this time for the general opening, which will take place about Labor Day. The burlesque theatres have already opened, the Victoria starting its season Aug. 19, while the Gayety and Academy have had a flying start. Busi- ness with both of them has been very good. Announcement was made last week that the Pitt Theatre will again be under the direction of Wm. Moore Patch, of this city, who will present the largest moving picture spectacles to be had. The opening has been alated for the Slat of this month, when "The Birth of a Nation" will be the attrac- tion for three weeks. This picture did a wonderful business In this city a year ago, playing fourteen consecutive weeks. The top price at all times will he one dollar. The Davis will re-open with high class vaudeville, on Labor Day, and soma of the best bills of vaude- 'rtlle will be presented. The Harris, as usual, is playing to capacity audi- ences. Manager Charles Buchheit Just returned from a two weeks' vacation In the OatskMa, and reports having a most enjoyable time. The Sheridan continues doing well, and Manager Hooley reports himself well satisfied with the Summer patronage. Mr. Hooley has Just returned from a well earned vacation, and looks the picture of health. On Aug. 21 the Nixon opened a short season of pictures, presenting Lyman Howe's travelogues. The Tegular season will open Shortly after Sept. 1.
