240 The Phonograph Monthly Review READ OUR NEXT NUMBER FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS OF BEETHOVEN CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION Too Late for Classification Reiser Resents Russian Ban—Retaliates In retaliation for the recent ban on American jazz music in Russia, Harry Reiser,, the well-known jazz musician and leader of the Clicquot Club Eskimos, Exclusive Columbia Phonograph Company artists, is today taking steps to forbid the importation of Russian toe dancers, Russian caviar, Rus- sian sardines and Russian actors. _ . “If American jazz can corrupt the Bolshevik, says Reiser, “just think of the demoralizing effect of Russian caviar on Americans! Simply ruinous! So I am writing Congressman Bloom to see what can be done about it. On every hand we see Russian tea rooms, Russian actors, Russian ballet dancers, Russian whiskers, Russian sardines and what not. It is no more than right that we retaliate their barring American jazz records, a large quantity of which I make. And they re no worse than Russian vodka although I admit they have a strong kick in them.” By H. T. BARNETT, M.I.E.E.
