in “capturing.” On this dawn—and_ this dawn only — it is
possible to see and photograph, providing the sky is clear, the so called ‘“ greater phenomenon.” Straight ahead from
the altar stone, on which the victims were supposed to have been sacrificed hundreds of years ago, there is a single pillar known as the Heel, or Sun Stone. On midsummer morning the sun, seen from the altar, appears from above the horizon exactly in line with the top of this and bathes the altar stone in a red glow— just as if it were covered in the blood of the many human
