What the SOCIETIES are Dome
Adur ES.
Hon, Sec. : Mrs. G. M. Browne, Hampton, Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham-by-Sea. Eight members attended annual show given by Bognor Regis F.S. at Theatre Royal, Bognor Regis, on March 24, and were impressed with the Bognor production, Murder at the Theatre Royal. Two films are now in production. A comedy, Lunatics at Large, should by now have been completed. A dance was held at the Savoy Ball Room, Brighton, on April 4.
Beckenham C.S.
Hon. Sec.: J. W. Mantle, 56, Croydon Road, Beckenham, Kent. Films started last season are now completed and new comedy written by Norman Jeffries has been started. This will be first of two novices’ films to be produced this season, so that desire of those who do not possess apparatus and wish to engage in camera work can now be appeased. In the same way, any member who would like to direct, but who has no experience, will have opportunity of directing one of these novices’ films. The beginners will be given free hand to do as they please but experienced workers will always be on set to give advice when required and to see that no obviously wrong methods are employed. An admirable idea, Beckenham !
A week or more, commencing April 2oth, will be given over to showing of films made by society and members. Performance each

Catholic F.S.
Hon. Sec.: 36, Great Smith Street, Westminster, W.1. The C.F.S. has received an appeal from St. Joseph’s College, Mill Hill, on behalf of a missionary in S. Africa, who writes: “I am giving many bioscope shows with two projectors, standard size and 16 mm. silent. The standard films I get gratis on loan. We have, however, no 16 mm. Catholic films yet. You would do me a great favour if you would get into touch with friends who could present us with some films which are discarded but which can still be used. They need not be on spools.” The C.F.S. would be grateful to receive any such, and undertakes to forward them to the missionary in question.
At March monthly meeting Fr. Ferdinand Valentine gave running microphone commentary on film, The Sacrifice of the Mass, which formed main portion of programme ; supporting films included two travel films and Harold Lloyd and Shirley Temple comedies.
