solution as a means of protecting home-made tanks, developing frames, etc. Other tests have failed to show any deleterious reactions between developing and other solutions which would adversely affect the photographic image.

FILM CHARGER
Name. Ditmar.
Makers or Agents. Actina Ltd., 29, Red Lion Square, W.C.1.
Film Size. This charger takes 30ft. of 9.5mm. film, and is designed to fit all ordinary g.5mm. cameras.
Description. The Ditmar charger offers a new feature in the design of apparatus of this type, in that the feed and take-up sections are entirely separate and can be opened and closed separately. Each section has its own hinged lid, which is closed by a spring clip.
The body of the instrument consists of a metal die casting, comprising the main portions of the two film chambers. Two further small castings form the inner portions of the film channelling. This method of construction enables the faces of the channel to be brought to a high degree of finish, and in addition these channel surfaces have been formed into large corrugations in such a manner as to ensure smaller bearing surfaces between the channels and the film passing through them. This reduces resistance and the tendency to scratching. The take-up core is a metal pressing with a solid bar across, which engages with the take-up mechanism of the camera.
The lids are metal pressings, with embossed faces to give rigidity. The light-trapping between the lids and the bodies of the film

chambers is somewhat less elaborate than in some other chargers, and the safety of the film appears to rely mainly on the accurate fit of the lid
The principle of the two separate chambers
(Continued from previous page)
is of particular value when loading the charger, for the coil of film can be dropped into the top chamber with only its end sticking through the chute. The lid is then closed and the charger brought out into white light where the more complicated operation of fitting the film on to the take-up core and threading it into the bottom chamber can be accomplished with comfort.
Price. 5/-. The charger is sold empty, although we understand that there is a possibility that it may be available loaded with Bauchet film next year, as well as sold empty.
