Sashalite Competition. — -Readers of The Amateur Photo¬ grapher who are entering this competition are reminded that the closing date is Saturday, October 7th. Prizes of £25, ^15, £10, five prizes of £2, and a considerable number of smaller prizes are offered for pictures taken with Sashalite bulbs. The only conditions are that Sashalite bulbs must be used for the exposures, and a coupon, which will be found in our advertisement pages, must be affixed to the back of every print. On Fridays, the work covers most of the practical methods in use, and by means of lectures and demonstrations, students obtain a valuable working knowledge of various processes, including bromoil, Carbro, enlarging, dry-mounting, and finishing the print. On Mondays, students are trained in posing and lighting the subject. Negatives are made after¬ wards, retouched by the students, and instruction is given in theproduction of the finished result. Reduced fees under certain conditions are offered. The course is under the direction of Mr. Robert Coombs, who will send full particulars on applica¬ tion to the Borough Polytechnic, Borough Road, London, S.E.i. * * * At the Battersea Polytechnic, Battersea Park Road, London, S.W.i 1, a course of instruction in photography has again been arranged this year by Mr. E. Senior. The syllabus is in two parts, one elementary and the other advanced, and full practical instruction is given in all branches of photography. There are special fees for students residing in London, and full particulars are obtainable from Mr. Senior at the above address. * * * Amateur cinematographers are reminded that the Scottish Travel Association, 37, George Street, Edinburgh, 2, maintains a film library of 16-mm. films of Scottish scenery. These films are lent out on request, the only charge being for postage at the rate of 6d. for one reel, gd. for two reels and is. for three reels.
