The special feature offered is the series of happily-named “ Illustrascreens.” These have a highly reflective silver projection surface, with rollers. and battens, framed sides and an ingenious stretching device, ensuring a flawless picture area and maximum brilliance. It is easily dismantled after the show. Prices, which include cost of carriage, are 24X36 in., 15s.; 36x48 in., 25s.; 48x48 in., 30s. ; 48x60 in., 40s. ; and 48x66 in., 45s. “ Ulustrachrome ” Colour Wheels, which enable users of Pathescope projectors to have multi¬ colour effects and colour changes, cost 5s. Pathescope, Ltd. Two outstanding lines appealing to owners of 9.5-mm. cine cameras are the famous “ 2 o o B ’ ’ Projector,* which is Bri¬ tish made, has auto¬ matic cool¬ ing, 200-watt illuminant, provision for inter¬ changeable lenses and costs / 1 5 complete. At the other end of the scale is the “ Kid ” Projector, which is an efficient instrument projecting, naturally, a smaller but nevertheless, brilliant and steady picture, at 55s. Peeling & Van Neck, Ltd. The new “ Linhof ” Universal Tripod, for every type of camera, is the line this old-established firm is emphasising for Christmas. It is very stable and is justly described as a “ precision ” instru¬ ment. The outer legs are of crystalline finished steel, the inner of hardened aluminium, they can be held at any angle after extension, and, without employing loose parts, rubber or metal feet can be used at will. The revolving cone, scaled to 360 degrees, has a smooth -movement and is controlled by the “ panning ” handle. The camera can be tilted to any angle. The price, including case, is £5 5s. Sands Hunter & Co., Ltd. The “ Correx ”* Film Developing Tanks until recently only available for 2^-mm. cine film, are now offered for V.P. and 3^X2-} sizes, the cost being 25s. an addition of 2S. 6d. providing a special thermo¬ meter. J" Rhaco ” Direct-vision View¬ finders are made in two models. I for folding hand cameras, and II for cameras giving 16 exposures on V.P. film, the price in either case being 8s. 6d., or with blue glass, 10s. " Optochrom ” Yellow Glass Filters are obtainable from 8s. 6d. Henry C. Stephens, Ltd. A tin of “ Grip-fix,” the well-known photographic mountant in the “ troublefree ” tin*, would be a welcome addition to the gift of an album or packets of printing paper. The cost is small, viz., gd., is. 6d. and 2s. 6d. per tin, _ but it would render the pres e n t more complete, and provide the recipient not only with the means for making the prints, but also enable him or her to complete them ready for display to friends and relatives. The ThorntonPickard Manufactur¬ ing Co., Ltd. The famous “ Picabrix ” Construc¬ tional Toy is again featured by this firm. Certainly, one who wishes to give joy to a child need look no farther, as with these sets a bewildering number of models may be built. The prices are 8s. 6d., 25s. and 45s. for sets Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively; set No. 1 containing 98 pieces and No. 3 731 pieces. An addition this year is the new “ Cottage ” set at 8s. 6d., which appeals particularly to the feminine side of the nursery. With this one can build most desirable resi¬ dences for dollies, to which the brothers, if they have the No. 2 " Picabrix ” Outfits, can add garages*, petrol filling stations and other excrescences dear to a boy’s mind. Thorsch & Co., Ltd. The patent " Etui ” Camera*, de¬ scribed as the thinnest and lightest camera on the mark e t is made for 3* X 2 1,plates, roll films or film packs. This is one of the cam¬ eras used on the Mount Everest expedi¬ tion. The prices range from £6 6s., with f/4.5 anastigmat. Certainly, a fond aunt (somehow aunts generally provide the nicest Christmas gifts) could not supply a more welcome present. 511 The Service Co., Ltd. Some exceedingly attractive lines in Barometers are offered at prices that make them suit¬ able for very wel¬ come presents. Either the square pattern at 18s.*, or the more usual circular type at 13s. 6d. would be appreciated. The standard cine pro¬ jectors at £j 10s. are again featured. A new line is the ‘‘My Snaps ” Album, which is supplied with a flexible cover with any initial letter printed on in gilt, at 3s. 6d. The Westminster Photographic Ex¬ change, Ltd. This firm has two special lines to offer for Christmas. One is the ” Westminster” 3 i x 2 \ Folding Plate Ca mera, with T / 4 ■ 5 Meyer Trioplan a nastigmat, in Compur shutter, 3 slides, 2 finders, and a wide range of movements, at £5 1 5s. The other is the ” Westette ”* 3x4 cm. Roll Film Camera, which takes two exposures on V.P. film, has the large-aperture f/2 Xenar anastigmat in Compur shutter, an ingenious lever focussing incorporated with the lazy-tongs movement, is scaled down to 2 yards, is self-opening to infinity, and has direct-vision view¬ finder with magnifying eyepiece. This costs £12 17s. 6d. Zeiss Ikon, Ltd. Those desirous of starting off a friend or relative on the photographic hobby could scarcely do better than acquire the Zeiss Ikon “ Nettar ” 3 j-x 2 t Roll Film Camera, which has 3-speed shut¬ ter, 2 view-finders, two-dot focus set¬ ting* and f/6.3 anastigmat lens, at £3 10s. For a cheaper line the famous Box Tengor ” for 3x4 cm. roll films, at 18s. 6d. with f/n lens, or 47s. 6d. with f/6.3 Novar anastigmat could scarcely be excelled. The lines offered by this great house cannot be dealt with adequately, and a catalogue should be sent for. Mention must, however, be made of the Contax, which takes 36 exposures at one loading, has gadgets too numerous to detail, and costs 2/24 10s. 21
