The portrait of King George V re¬ produced on the first page of this issue is by Vandyk. The portrait of King Edward VIII, on a following page, is by Hugh Cecil. The 48th Annual Meeting of the Photographic Convention will be held this year at Norwich, under the presi¬ dency of Mr. John Keane, from June 29th to July 4th. A preliminary leaflet giving brief particulars of the arrange¬ ments has been issued and will be sent on application to the Hon. Secretaries, F. C. T. and M. E. B. Hadley, Houndsfield, Wythall, Birmingham. The winner for the January 8th Wallace Heaton Miniature Photograph Competition is Miss M. I. Orr, of Weybridge. Readers who have not yet entered this competition should note the conditions and prizes which are an¬ nounced elsewhere in this issue. Zeiss Ikon Ltd. inform us that they are holding an exhibition of about 120 Contax pictures, approximately onehalf of which are enlarged from negatives which won prizes in a competition held in Germany during last summer, and the other half are by British amateur and professional photographers, at the McLellan Galleries, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, from Monday February 3rd to Saturday, February 8th. The exhi¬ bition will be open between the hours of 10 a.m. and 9 p.m., and in addition to the pictures a complete selection of all Zeiss Ikon photographic apparatus in the precision class will be on exhibition. A General Meeting of the newly formed Folkestone and District Camera Club members will be held at the Queen’s Hotel, Sandgate Road, Folkestone, at 8.15 p.m., on January 30th. This is " Camera Night No. 1," and all members are invited to bring their camera outfit and a print with them for discussion. The Committee has decided upon the following annual subscriptions to the Club : Full Membership, 7s. 6d. per annum ; Juvenile Section (under 16), 2s. 6d. per annum ; Postal Portfolio Section (all are welcome), 3s. per annum. The Camera Company of 320, Vauxhall Bridge Road, Victoria, S.W.i, are holding their annual Stocktaking Sale, commencing to-day (Wednesday, Janu¬ ary 29th). They are issuing a Special Sale List containing hundreds of bar¬ gains in both still and cine apparatus and accessories. A copy will be sent free on application to above address. A Sale Catalogue of remarkable bar¬ gains has been sent in by the City Sale and Exchange, of 54, Lime Street, E.C.3. A glance through its pages discloses some outstanding items that we would advise our readers to try and secure before it is too late. A copy of this list will be sent free on request. Good prices for good pictures are offered by the Daily Mirror to all photographers. They must, however, be photographs of “ human interest,” “ no landscapes by request.” A special illustrated folder giving full particulars of what is wanted will be sent free to any reader of “ The A.P.” who applies to Room 123, The Daily Mirror, Fetter Lane, E.C.4. A new Hon. Secretary has been appointed by the Liverpool Amateur Photographic Association. He is Mr. E. H. Austin. His predecessor, Mr. A. G. Hughes, was elected President at the annual general meeting held on the 16th inst. This was particularly the case with the Inter¬ mediate competitors, many of whom, having graduated from the Beginners’ Section, are now doing first-class work that will speedily put them in the Advanced Section.
