February 19th, 1936 [hi AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER n 6 CINEMATOGRAPHER a TVTEWS AND REVIEWS JL 1 ITEMS OF GENERAL INTEREST FROM ALL QUARTERS. The problem of making an electric exposure meter more sensitive to weak light values without having to subject its greater sensitivity unnecessarily to strong light, and yet retain it in handy pocket size, has been successfully solved in the latest “ Tempophot ” electric meter. While in appearance it is the same as the standard " Tempophot,” already reviewed in these pages, it is con¬ siderably smaller and has been adapted to accommodate an auxiliary photo-elec¬ tric cell, which is used for increasing the sensitivity. When the light is so weak that the standard meter indicator just fails to register a reading, the amplifier cell is clipped into the top (as seen in the illustration) with the result that the indicator will now move appreciably into the scale and so provide an accurate reading. The amplifier can, if necessary, be bought separately, and is standardised in sensitivity to register with every “ Tempophot” meter. There are no extra calculations with the amplifier and the readings are taken from the standard meter. It is obtainable from Messrs. R. F. Hunter Ltd., 51, Gray’s Inn Road, I.ondon, W.C.i. Prices: Standard "Tempophot,” £i 15s.; Am¬ plifier, £1 17s. fid. A particularly interesting exhibition is on view till the end of the month at the house of the R.P.S., 35, Russell Square, W.C.2. It consists entirely of work by members of societies in the Central Association, and includes prints, lantern slides in monochrome and colour, and stereoscopic prints and transpar¬ encies. On Tuesdays and Fridays, and on the 22nd and 27th inst., the hours are 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. ; on other week¬ days till 9 p.m. Admission is free on signing the visitors’ book. The winner of the Wallace Heaton weekly prize competition for the week ending January 29th is Mr. Sorab J. Kharagat, 12a, Cension Bang, Calaba Causeway, Bombay. Particulars of this competition, which is open to " A.P." readers only, will be found on our advertisement pages every week. The Coronet Camera Co., of 310, Summer Lane, Birmingham, 19, have been appointed the sole distributing agents for Perutz Film in the United Kingdom. “ The Golden Book of the Rolleiflex ” is a volume that will delight every picture-lover. It has just been issued in this country by the British agents for the Rolleiflex camera, R. F. Hunter Ltd., 51, Gray’s Inn Road, W.C.i, and contains reproductions of the prize¬ winning pictures from the recent inter¬ national Rolleiflex and Rolleicord com¬ petition and other pictures taken with these cameras by photographers in all parts of the world. The book, which is of an attractive size and appearance, contains 180 pages of which 120 are photogravure plates. These pictures are beautifully presented and are a remark¬ able testimony both to the authors of the prints and the apparatus responsible for their production. Full data is given in connection with each picture. The book sells at 7s. 6d., and can be obtained from all Rolleiflex stockists or from the above address. The Hon. Secretary of The South I.on¬ don Photographic Society, Mr. Dennis E. M. Wright, informs us that his address is now 55, Tierney Road, Streatham Hill, S.W. ' _ The Westminster Photographic Exchange, 119, Victoria Street, S.W.i, have recently received a letter relating to an Elmar long-focus lens, from Mr. G. Swan, a reader of " The A.P.” If Mr. Swan will send his address — which he omitted — his letter will receive attention. A change of Secretary to the Lincoln Camera Club has been made. In future all communications should be sent to Mr. David Harris, 22, May Crescent, Lincoln. The Watford Camera Club has now started a Cinematographic Section, the Hon. Secretary of which is Mr. F. E. Willis, 28, Langley Road, Watford. The Secretaries of the main Club are now Mr. N. V. Woodward, 51, Cassio Road, Watford, and Mr. R. W. Law, Public Library, Watford.
