The Dufaycolor Colour Process is the subject of a new handbook just issued by Messrs. Ilford Ltd. This is an excellent production of 40 pages, well illustrated in colour, and deals with the process with full working instructions. It will be sent on application to Messrs. Ilford Ltd., Ilford, at the price of 6d., and every reader interested in this popular method of colour photography should obtain a copy.
We are asked by the Weston Electrical Instrument Co., Ltd., to mention that they omitted to include amongst the names of dealers stocking their exposure meter, published in their advertisement in our issue of April 1st, the Westminster Photographic Exchange, Ltd., 119, Vic¬ toria Street, S.W.i, and Branches.
The Reading Photographic Club, which was formed late in 1934 by a small band of enthusiasts, has since grown very considerably, and any amateur photographers in the neigh¬ bourhood who are interested should communicate with the Hon. Secretary, K. N. Crowe, at the Club Headquarters, 29, Blagrave Street, Reading. The Club meets on alternate Tuesdays.
The next South African Salon of Photography will be held in conjunction with the British Empire Exhibition at Johannesburg in October. It is being organised by the Johannesburg Photo¬ graphic Society, in conjunction with other Photographic Societies in South Africa. The main exhibition will be held at Milner Park, Johannesburg. The Photographic Salon will be housed
first in one of the Art Halls, and later be transferred to the Central City Hall, The last day for sending in pictures and entry forms is Friday, August 14th. The entry forms are now ready and are obtainable from the Hon. Secretary, Johannesburg Photographic Society, P.O. Box 7024, Johannesburg, South Africa. A small number of these forms have been sent to us, and we will be pleased to send one (while the supply lasts) to any reader who wishes to exhibit at the South African Salon.
Readers residing in the Newcastleon-Tyne area should pay a visit to the premises of Mr. J. H. Turner, 9, Pink Lane, Newcastle-on-Tyne, to view an exhibition of Leica prints and apparatus which he is holding there until April 26th. All photographers are cordially invited.
A useful book that will appeal to all interested in colour printing has been issued by The Autotype Co., Ltd., 59, New Oxford Street, London, W.C.x. This is entitled “ Trichrome Printing by the Autotype Carbro Process.” Very full and well-illustrated instructions for this attractive method of making prints in colour are given, and every detail is fully explained. In particular the reader’s attention is directed to the making of trichrome carbro prints from colour transparencies, such as those produced by the Autochrome, Filmcolor, Agfacolor, Dufaycolor and Finlaycolor processes. The book, which has been written by Mr. F. R. Newens, in conjunction with the Autotype Co., can be obtained from the above address at is. 2d., post free.
A Holiday Competition is again announced by Messrs. Johnson & Sons, Hendon Way, Hendon, N.W.4. These competitions have been very successful in previous years, and on this occasion Messrs. Johnson & Sons are awarding fifty cash prizes and fifty consolation prizes. Any number of prints may be sent in by users of the well-known Johnson chemicals and other specialities, and the closing date is 31st October, 1936. Readers should apply to the above address for a copy of particulars, rules and prizes of this competition, which will be sent on request.
The Amateur Cinema League of New York has issued a little book that would appeal to every amateur cinemato¬ grapher. It is entitled “ Scenarios Ready to Film,” contains thirty-two pages, and is issued by the Continuity Department of the Amateur Cinema League. It presents a selection of four stories com¬ pletely scenarised and ready for pro¬ duction. It is not offered for sale, but is being supplied to members of the League, free on request, as part of the League service, and is included in the annual membership fee. The little book is so attractively and practically pro¬ duced that it affords perfect examples of how a scenario should be prepared, and is an idea that might well be followed by any one of the enterprising cine organisations for amateurs in this country.
The Service Co., Ltd., 273-274, High Holborn, W.C.i, have issued a new edition of their little booklet “ Campedia.” This contains information and illustrations of everything required by the hiker and camper. Full details of equipment and accessories, etc., are given, and all readers who are contem¬ plating a camping holiday should obtain a copy. Application to the above address will secure one post free.
