The AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER a 6 CINEMATOGRAPHER a the frame, the picture would show up quite well on its surface. On the other hand, if a portable screen on rollers is required, this is ideal for the purpose. Here again a black border is a desirable feature, and in this case the most practicable idea would be to sew or glue broad black tape round the edges. Such a screen could be still further improved with aluminium paint, and it can still be rolled, though of course no preliminary coats are necessary. One point, however, which should be re¬ membered when rolling painted materials is to roll with coated side out, as other¬ wise the surface would tend to crack. The primary object of these suggestions has been to show how a more brilliant January 6th, 1937 picture may be obtained. The prac¬ tical amateur will see that in the con¬ struction of the screen there is plenty of room for ingenuity. It could be made into a really elaborate affair, complete with curtains ; or on the other hand it might be preferred inconspicuous. And of course a bought screen can be elab¬ orated on in the same way.
