Believe it or not, that's real snow, made by grinding half a million pounds of ice in special snow-machines. Note also the wind-machine and wave-machine at left for creating stormy weather. If you look closely, you'll see Director of Photography and Associate Producer Lee Garmes' face just beneath the tripod, as he discusses the shot with Director Julien Duvivier and the Script Girl.
