SELZNICK HAILED BY EXHIBITORS AND
CRITICS AS BEST PRODUCER OF 1935
For the second successive year, David 0. Selznick has been more prom inently represented on the national lists of "ten-best" selections than any other producer. The young producer, who has recently come under the releasing banner of United Artists and will soon be revres-— ented by his first film as an independent, "Little Lord Fauntleroy," has maintained the highest standing in the industry.
In Box Office Champions, a survey sponsored by the Motion Picture Herald, Selznick got the lion's share of the honors for the past two years. This survey consists of theatre reports submitted by exhibitors throughout the country. It shows that Selznick pictures have been more successful at the box office than those of any other producer.
In the selections made by 451 film critics participating in Film Daily's 1935 poll, Selznick leads the list with his praductions of "David Copoerfield" and "Anna Karenina." Last year he was also represented by two pictures, "Viva Villa" and "Dinner at Bight."
The National Board of Review heaped further honors on Selznick when it chose "David Copperfield" as the most popular and entertaining picture of 1935, and included "Anna Karenina" among the first ten best pictures.
To cap the climax, the youthful head of Selznick International Pictures has just received from the Italian government the coveted Mussolini cup awarded him by the International Motion Picture Exposition for his production of "Anna Karenina", which was considered the best motion picture produced in any country in 1935.
