AUGUST 26, 1911. Tire Bill board 51 *a,-in- enttrtataed by the. members of a certain and chased by tto owner, scene after -«vno of hilarity - and lodlcronaneae following brother. The setting o( the Turkish town Jpiendldly gotten upTbelng both reaUstlc and .musing. The dim Is a rather sumptuous pro- duction for a comedy. iealous OEOEGE. Comedy. Same, reel as A Turkish Olgsrette. . The old theme of the suspicious husband Is uii'd again here as a source of some good com- ijv and. while not much better than previous OTOdnctions, the one here Is entertaining and fully equal to them. The photography and se- tectlo of scenery Is good. THE 10NG> BKTttT. Titagraph. Drama, length, 1.000 feet. Released August 8. The story here <s a very plain, simple one, probably very Interesting to women, for It Is i womanish story but hardly capable of inter- filing or amusing men. The subtitle of the nim Is A Successful Experiment. The experi- ment Is that of trying to cure a fifteen-year-old sW of her chlldhm ways by tiring her the tone skirt and Impressing her with the fact that she Is ne longer a little girl. It la somewhat amusing the way the experiment works out, but of course, the result is seen long before It it. arrived at. The action is very well done, the children Is. the picture playing; natural parts and the scenes set in natural places. IN THE PARTS BLUM& Patbe. Drama. Length, 000 feet. Released August 14. A very dramatic and exciting tale of the slums is told here, highly visualised by the appropriate scenery and setting and the won- derfully extraordinary character in the center role. It is a tale of love and rivalry, the low- life customs end the highly sentimental people forming a combination which holds the Interest. The dim Is different In almost every way from the ordinary one—not that crude characters are new to Olmdom, but the lack of silly senti- mentality and the uniqueness of the plot put the production In a Class by Itself and satisfies that ever Increasing demand "for something new in motion pictures." EXTRACTING PALM JUICE Tjr THE FOREST. Educational. Length. 275 feet. Same reel as In the Paris Slums. A short educational film of some merit Is shown here. The rather peculiar method of tapping the trees and catching the juice, as welt as the custom of selling It In the open. Is s matter of Interest and Information. VIENNA, AT/STRIA. Scenic. Length, 194 feet. Same reel as In the Paris Slums. Some very good scenes of Vienna streets are shown, the pecnlisr street cars and buildings proving- highly Interesting, while some of the important scenes In the town which are shown and named, add to the Interest In the unnamed places. The photography la good. THROUGH JEALOUS EXES, Lubin. Drama. Released August IT. Length 1,000 feet. The story in this film Is one almost entirely Impossible, bat evidently produced for the Idea or showing what jealousy can do or what a little misunderstanding can bring about. In this re- spect the story Is well plotted, but In cutting It down in length to suit the film, many points seem to have been stretched. The acting la well done, and except for the Impossibilities appear- ing in the aim, It la a good «ne. THE BOhTANOE OF A DIXIE BELLE. Ralem. Drama. Released August 1L Length 983 feet. A story with very extreme situations, althongb simple ones Is portrayed here: Various scenes creat* a feeling of suspense, which is well maintained for long periods. The plot has been carefully worked out except for a few points, which.are bard to account for, and it Is surely an interesting one. The rejected belle Is given the opportunity to shield from pursuing soldiers the man who has rejected her and married her rival. There la little depth to the story, but It it roll of Interest, and for this must of course be classed aa a meritorious production. THE BXA0K8MXTH>S LOTS. Sellg. Drama. Released August 17. Length 1,000 feet. A story much after the Enoch Arden fashion la pictured here. It Is not so simple as Its model, however, and aa produced la msde to be immensely mora Interesting. Wonderfully talented directing is much in evidence through- ont the play, and especially In the scenes on the battlefield, for the husband In this story goes to war Instead of to sea. No battle scenes are shown, merely the battlefield after the battle, with Its dead and -wounded Iylnar silently. The Mory of the battle is thus dramatically told, and well told. It is the battle where the husband is wounded, and from which the report goes out that he Is dead. In the end the wife leaves toe new husband she bad married, and returns to the first one. The play of course takes a de- cided turn at this point, and ends a great deal of suspense, which baa been a fine feature. The Hire win never fall to entertain. THE BELL OF JUSTICE. Titagraph. Drama. Released August 11. Length, 1,000 feet. Longfellow's beautiful poem. The Bell of Atrl, "reproduced in splendid form In this production. Jhe Ides of producing such a tale. la a coed idea, and the method of production la of a high order. Jhe mm will entertain those not fsmUtsr with the poem, aa well aa those who are, for the little rlay is made Interesting with Its many well jotten-np scenes, aside from the fact of Its origin.
