{ue Bioscopr, June 17, 1913. 1153 D the Sensation of /wo Continents. In a new and original Drama of the Stage. Entitled “HER TRIUMPH” In Three Acts. Miss Deslys is assisted by her Dancing Partner, Mr. HARRY PILCER, with whom she is at present starring at the Alhambra Theatre, London READ THESE. There is little doubt but that the picture entitled “Her Triumph,’ featuring Mlle. Gaby Deslys and Mr. Harry Pilcer, will enjoy considerable popularity. Mlle. Deslys, who appears in some very striking costumes, and looks charming throughout, has not a great deal to learn as a cinema artist, and Mr. Pilcer gives capable support. — THE REFEREE, June 6th. ; The story is a simple and straightforward one, but Mlle. Deslys gets the last ounce of dramatic effect from it, and whether she is dancing or acting she is equally fascinating. The theatrical episodes are the ‘real thing,” and the views ‘‘ behind the scenes” are crammed with faithful and interesting detail. . . . The film is gorgeously produced, with many beautiful photographic effects, and it introduces a lot of the characteristic Gaby dancing, including the Dance Deslys, and the Danse des Apaches. Mlle. Gaby is supported throughout by Mr. Harry Pilcer, her famous dancing partner, who also shows himself an actor of no mean order. . . his film ts a remarkably fine attraction, without a single.dull moment.—CINEMA, June 10th. ; Everyone has heard of Gaby Deslys. By name and by reputation she is probably very nearly as well known to the inhabitants of these islands as, say, Mr. Balfour and the Bishop of London. . . . Mlle. Deslys adapts herself with unusual success to the conditions of the cinema, and gives a performance with which no regular picture actress would have cause to be anything but satisfied. The plot allows her ample scope to exhibit her terpsichorean abilities, and these dancing scenes constitute in themselves a most agreeable attraction.—BIioscopkE, June 10th. The famous artist gave us of her best. Her various terpsichorean efforts showed her wonderful talent, and proved delicious interludes to the more serious parts of the subject. “ Her Triumph” has been written specially for the great artist, and might be a real story of her life, so graphic and convincing does tt appear. [tis no patchwork of incidents bunched together to show the talent of the artist as a dancer, but a real, throbbing story of a woman’s persistent efforts to ascend the ladder of fame. . . . There are no dull moments; every scene possesses some incident that engrosses attention and grips the spectator.—K1NEMATOGRAPH, June 10th.
