Broad St. Mapping Production Schedule at RKO Hollywood — Plans for RKO’s schedule next season are now being discussed here by George J. Schaefer, president; Ned E. Depinet, vice-president in charge of distribution, and studio executives with a tentative program of 35 top-bracket features being considered. Schaefer has indicated previously the company will make a greater number of “A” pictures than before and at the same time cut the output of “B’s.” He has also intimated the RKO schedule will be less than the current season’s. Emphatic denial was given reports that Depinet, who accompanied Schaefer west, would assume active charge of studio operations. Schaefer has been anxious to keep a fatherly eye on the production end himself, spending as much time as he can spare here in that endeavor. Eastern reports have it the company’s new selling system under the decree is set under a simplified plan which could be put into effect tomorrow if the new season were that close. However, sales forces are now cleaning up all possibilities outstanding. From accounts, the company is far ahead now than at the same time last year. Notis Komenos, his assistant, is taking over until Starr returns to his post. Starr had complained of a stomach ailment at first and this was diagnosed as gallstones, but after a second going over it was found to be his appendix. While few know it, Starr’s appendix burst while he was on his way to the hospital in an ambulance. After his arrival, he had to wait two hours before the surgery was performed. According to his coworkers, it is a miracle he is alive. From Many Trades And Professions Paul J. Furnas, treasurer Sandura Co., Finance Bldg. John H. Haire, certified public accountant. 123 S.
