ESCOIvIi.Oim)S 580 KC FOR TOBO
Chief Fjcaminer, Ellis A. Yost, in a report (lTo.417) rendered this week recommends that Station 'WEBO, Orlando, Florida "be allowed to change its fre¬ quency from 112C to 580 kilocycles. The station has "been operating with 25C watts power "unlimited time and asked for the same power on the new channel.
Pending the outcome of this hearing, hy temporary authority, the sta¬ tion has heen operating on 583 kilocycles.
Tlie Chief Examiner states that the regional channel of 580 kilocycles is not available for assignment to any State in the Third Zone for "onlimited time operation except to the State of Florida. He also calls attention to the fact that there are no applications pending for the Tiiird Zone for this frequency,
Mr. Yost further finds that "the "unlimited time operation of Station WPBO at Orlando, Florida, on the 580 kilocycle frequency with power of 250 watts would result in less interference than the operation of this station with the sane power on the 1120 kilocycle frequency at Orlando. The grant¬ ing of this application would not affect the quota of the state. He re¬ commends that it be granted.
ESCOia'/iSI'ES CUT IN TIME
In report Ho. 418 this week Chief Examiner Ellis A. Yost recomme-nded that Station UHDF, Calumet, Michigan, be allowed to operate on 1370 kc limited instead of "unlimited time.
Tlie station came before the Commission for license renewal on the gro"und that it violated Rule 151 of the Commission by "not operating two-thirds of the daily hours of operation authorized.
Examiner Yost found that the station has been violating the rule in that it has operated but 7 hours daily, whereas it is authorized to operate -un¬ limited time. Otherwise, the Examiiner fo"und that the "applicant is financially, technically, legally and otherwise q"ualified to operate Station WHDF", 'Tlie present quota charge of the station is .3 of a unit. The operating hours re¬ commended by the Examiner would reduce this quota charge to .11 of a "unit, or a reduction of .19 of a ’unit.
