In^triimeiil Society Proiluee§ Film on Automatic Control
<T The application advantages of automatic control to a process in a small chemical plant are shown in Automatic Process Control, a 16mm sound and color film now available from the Instrument Society of America.
This 33 minute film, intended principally for career guidance, is aimed at the instrumentation newcomer and answers the questions: What is automatic control? What does it mean? What are its application advantages to industry? What are the modes of control commonly used?
Step by step, the film discusses the four modes of control — on off. proportional, proportional with reset, and proportional with reset and rate action — and illustrates how a typical company's product quality and economic returns improve with the addition of each mode.
The film also touches on how the relation of system analysis, centralized panels and computer control can assist in bringing about optimum process conditions at maximum output with minimum costs.
The film was planned and produced by a task force composed of members of the ISA Rochester Section under the auspices of the Society's Education Division.
Rental rates for the film are: S25 to companies; $5 to schools and other societies. Prints may be purchased for $400. For further information contact: Publications Department, Instrument Society of America, Penn-Sheraton Hotel, ."iOO William Penn Place, Pittsburgh 24. Pa. 5f'
