HERE'S WHY Because the magazines for the new Arriflex 16M have feed and take-up sprockets built-in, time consuming and critical threading of film is conveniently done when loading the magazine. And in loading, a precise 39 frame loop is automatically formed outside the magazine. HERE'S HOW To get set for filming, merely drop the loop inside the camera, secure the magazine via a quick-acting latch, place the loop into the film gate with registration pin retracted, and you're ready to roll! This simple fool-proof procedure takes only seconds! Attaching the magazine to the camera automatically connects camera and magazine drive mechanisms No belts to change, no torque motors needed. As a consequence the magazines (except 1200 ft.) will automatically run forward or reverse. MOST IMPORTANT Arriflex's reputation for precision and rugged reliability is not compromised in the new 16M model because NO PART OF THE FILM GATE IS INCORPORATED IN THE MAGAZINES THEMSELVES! The aperture plate, rear pressure plate, side guide rail — every component part essential to locating film precisely in the focal plane is protectively located within the camera head! Only this system meets the demand for fast operation and precision and reliability. In addition, the cost of magazines is thereby kept low. No small saving when outfitting with more than one. a born thoroughbred! The new model Arriflex 16M can be relied upon to behave like a thoroughbred from your very first assignment because it incorporates the best features of its time-proven forebears, the famed Arriflex 16 and 35 professional motion picture cameras. The model 16M is certain to become another important tool for our cinematographer friends all over the world whose specific needs and suggestions motivated its production. The Arriflex 16M combines the extreme compact lightweight portability of the standard Arriflex 16 with the larger film capacities and quick change, gear-driven magazine features of the Arriflex 35. Designed from its inception to be used only with magazines, the model 16M is much more compact with attached magazines than the standard Arriflex 16 with the same capacity magazine. This has been accomplished by eliminating the internal 100 ft. film capacity within the camera head. Thus the head has become much smaller and permits the mounting of even the largest magazine (1200 ft. capacity) in a matter of seconds. The literally millionsof-footage-proved mirror-shutter reflex system and registration pin movement of the famed Arriflex 16 have been retained as well as the 21 divergent 3 lens turret. And in addition, the new Arriflex 16M features a built-in 60 cycle sync generator and automatic electric start and scene marker for synchronous sound filming with all Vi" tape recorders in common use today. The new Arriflex 16M is ideally suited for location, studio and special assignments where compact portability, ruggedness. dependability, fast handling and extended filming runs are essential requirements. MAGAZINE SYSTEM The new line of quick-cliange magazines for tlie Arriflex 16M now make available capacities up to 1200 ft. ttiereby greatly extending ttie filming capabilities of the model 16M. Tfie quick cfiange feature derives its advantage from ttie fact ttiat feed and take-up sprockets are builtin. Eliminated too. is the time normally involved in aligning drive gears of camera and magazine; in the 16M the camera gear is spring loaded and automatically engages itself when magazine is locked into position and camera is switched on. The positive magazine to camera lock is solidly engineered— assurance against accidental opening. Compact and lightweight in design, the 200 ft. and 400 ft. magazines are of the single compartment, displacement type and accept darkroom loads on plastic cores. Both magazines also accept 100 ft. and 200 ft. daylight spools, respectively. The 200 ft. and 400 ft. magazines are factory equipped for forward and backward operation and automatically change their internal drive mechanism when the camera IS reversed. The 1200 ft. magazine will prove particularly advantageous for our sports, industrial and military customers. Once completely loaded, mounting on the camera is as fast as the smaller capacity magazines. (The 1200 ft. magazine is standardized for forward filming only but can be equipped for reverse running as well, on special request at extra charge.) .s /() his son nc a teacher. nself and his ccl with out;tcrminatioH, the eternal of the high I Blanca in irector Neniirodiiced by •d by Wanda narrated in ■.
