In his outgoing message to the members, as published in the Society's Journal. Past-President Reid H. Ray. Reid H. Ray lilni Industries, St. Paul, .Minn., praised Smpte members for their support and cooperation and said that the continuing success of the Society is a result of the interest and effort of the members — and one of Smpte's greatest assets is niemhership participation. Incoming President Hthan .\1. Stifle, Eastman Kodak Company. New York, called for increased meniliership in the Society. "Only by attracting newcomers can we maintain our vitality."" Stifle said. The creation, by amendment to the Smpte c\)nstitution. of new vice-presidencies in motion pictures, television, high-speed photography and instrumentation, education, and photoscicnce, should spark renewed growth. Such growth. Mr. Stifle continued, will be aided by a continuation and enhancement of the Society's education program. .An advisory committee on education will help foster a college curriculum aimed toward establishing Bachelor of Science Degrees in photographic and T\' engineering. Short courses for training technicians and broadening the use of audiovisual media will also be considered.
