TWYMAN, vice ■^^^ president of Twyman Films in Dayton, Ohio, and newly elected president of the National Audio-Visual Association is one of the youngest men ever to head this national association. The 36-year-old son of Alan B. Twyman, (NAVA President, 1955-56), has been with the firm since his graduation from the University of Cincinnati in 1958. In his address at the annual NAVA convention last month, Twyman emphasized the ever growing importance of service by NAVA members saying, "Ours is a high calling. One that cannot be discharged easily." "We provide the social institutions of education, the church, business, industry and recreation with the instruments of social change, to mold the minds and hearts of mankind in hopes of creating a better world of tomorrow from the ashes of today." He added that ". . . the 'Mom and Pop" seat-of-the-pants operation that started this industry is going to go out of existance in the 70's, to join the list of those who have already fallen because they couldn't hack being professional." "The companies who sell price alone rather than price and service will be left behind," he noted, adding that "Our markets demand and deserve service." Urging the membership to strive for professionalism through service, Twyman told the NAVA audience to "Serve now. The orders will come. You will learn to continue your education in order to become a more accomplished media-and-equipment consultant, film distributor, or other specialty— a trusted analyst of your customers' needs."
