His lovely wife, Pat was a very attentive hostess. This was the first West Coast meeting in three months, the last two being held in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas respectively. The major item on the agenda has been the topic of great controversy and importance, namely, the petition of a San Jose Chapter from members of the Northern California Chapter. Under consideration for more than one hundred days, the precedent setting petition was discussed, first at the May meeting of the Board in Los Angeles. It was decided to poll the affected area members for their opinion regarding a shift in chapter affiliation. The results were overwhelmingly in favor of a new chapter. San Jose is some miles (60) south of San Francisco and Southern members find it inconvenient to make the trip, particularly during early evening rush hours. The petition was then discussed at the Eastern Board meeting in Washington and at the Southern meeting in Dallas. A decision of this kind would affect many chapters in the future. It was felt that a group who really wanted a local chapter, who probably would not go to more distant meetings anyway, and who fully met the requirements as outlined in the bylaws for chapter formation, should be granted a charter. The San Jose group have had two meetings, (one of which was a banquet), have elected acting officers, and outlined six months of meetings programs. They desire an identity and point out that they are not a suburb of the Bay City. A second petition was received by the board, containing more names, and further justifications. The pros and cons were fully examined and a motion to grant the petition was made. A quorum was present. Proxy ballots obtained before the meeting were counted with those present. The motion was carried, making San Jose our tenth IFPA Chapter. '.0 BUSINESS SCREEN
