" Hail and rainstorms in the vicinity of Truckee have prevented the company from obtaining the necessary scepes. As a consequence, they will stay over. Upon completing work in this district, they will journey to Xevada to film a number of other important scenes. Upon the completion of this picture, Mellord will direct -The Faith Healt^r." by Willinm Vaticlian Moody. Roscoe Arbuckle. under the direction of .Joseph Henabery, has returned from Jamestown, and will continue work at the studio on "The Traveling Salesman." on the completion of which he will do "Brewster's Millions." July 12th is the date set for the start of "His Friend and His Wife," William de Mine's production of Cosmo Hamilton's novel, following which he will make "Footlights." by Rita Weinian. Cecil B. de Mille will start work between the 6ih and Pth of July upon his new picture, which has not been permanently titled as yet. with Forrest Stanlej and Ann Forrest in the leading roles. Wallace Reid, directed by James Cruze, is somewhere in the neighborhood of Pomona on location. The company is expected back within a short time. When he finishes "The Charm School,"' Reid will do "Always Audacious" {Toujours de I'Audace). The story, which is by Ben Atiies Williams, will be directed by James Cruze. Tom Forman has completed Ethel Clayton's last Paramount vehicle, "The Sins of Rosanne." .Apuroximately August 1st Thomas Meighan is expected back at the Lasky studio, after completing "The Frontier of the Stars" in New York. He will at once begin work on the starring vehicle for Paramouni. "Easy Street." by Blair Hall. MARION DAVIES AT BRUNTON Marion Davies. star of the International Filtn Company, releasing under Cosmopolitan Films, Inc., arrived at the Brunton Studios last week with her director, George Baker, and the entire cast for her new picture, "Buried Treasure." by F. Britten Austin, production upon which will be commenced immediately. While in California, Miss Davies will begin work on another Cosmopolitan production adapted from "The Love Piker," a short story by Frank R. and Leslie Adams. Frank Borzage who recently completed the direction of Fannie Hurst's "Humor esque," is expected to arrive at the Brunton Studios next week to start preliminary work on "The Love Piker," which he will direct. AT UNIVERSAL CITY Another action Western is being filmed by Hoot Gibson, under the direction of Lee Maloney. The title of the story is "A Gamhiin' Fool." Jacques Jaccard wires from Bear Valley that he has begun work upon "The Timber Wolf," the cast of which is headed by Virginia Faire and Leonard Clapham. Eddie Lyons and Lee Moran are preparmg to begin their third comedy feature, "Once A Plumber — ," by Edgar Franklin. Reeves Eason is busy with the manuscript of "Out of the Sky," a circus story which will star Edith, Roberts. Edward KuU is ready to start on his newserial, "The Queen of Diamonds," featuring Elieen Sedgwick. NEW COMPANY TO PRODUCE IN GLENADLE The Pinnacle Productions have taken over Doctor Bachman's studio in Glendale. The company, which will feature Neal Hart, will start production about July l.">th upon the first of a series of five-reel Westerns to be released independently. C. M. Giffon is representing the company. CASTS OF THE WEEK Leonnrd C!apham, v/tio is on location with his company in Bear Valley HERMANN PLANT NEARS COMPLETION A new unit producing plant consisting of three or more stages is to be erected on Wilshire Blvd., at Santa Monica, Calif., according to an announcement by E. P. Hermann. President and General Manager of the Hermann Pilni Corporation. The first stage will be ready for u.se within a few days, while work will commence upon the other two within a short time. The Hermann Film Corporation will put tw^o or more of its own producing companies to work and will lease additional space in the studios to independent producing units. AT THE GOLDWYN STUDIO E. Mason Hopper has commenced filming the fifth of the Booth Tarkington Edgar stories, which will be called "Edgar's Sunday Courtship" starring Johnnie Jones. Director Frank Lloyd took his company to San Francisco last week to get some trans-Pacific boat scenes. BOSWORTH TO START Lincoln Hart, Production Manager of the J. Parker Read, Jr., productions, has started the Louise Glaum company on the filming of "The Leopard Woman," an adaptation of Stewart Edward White's novel, and is now preparing to launch the next Hobart Bosworth vehicle. Rowland V. Lee will direct the Bosworth feature. The first picture entitled "Two of a Kind" was written by Hubert La Due, and features the Tower twins. Miss Wilson will continue an extensive program of comedy production and later will film a drama in which she takes the leading role in addition to directing. BUSTER KEATON STARTS SECOND COMEDY Buster Keaton has completed his initial two-reeler entitled "One Week," and is well under way with his second. Sybil Sealey is playing opposite him, and Joe Roberts is playing the heavy. CHESTER TO HAVE OWN PLANT Plans for the new administration building that he is erecting at Sunset Blvd. and Gower, have been approved by G. L. Chester, and will be ready for occupancy by September 1st. Mr. Chester's various enterprises include the Chester Outings, the Chester Comedies, Screenics, and Gale Henry Comedies. LAKE PRODUCTION UNDER WAY Production of Alice Lake's new Metra starring vehicle, "Body and Soul," was started this week under the direction ol Charles Swickard. The story was written by William Hurlburt and adapted for the screen by Marc Robbins and Hayden Talbot.
