TESTS TAKEN TO AID IN SELECTION OF CAST
Tlie ten beautiful young women who were recently picked as winners ii the recent contest conducted by the Hermann Film company for roles in its next picture. "Something More," were given screen tests at the Hci iuann studios on Wilshire boulevard this week. After the tests were taken, Mr. Hermann said it would be necessary to conduct other tests before it will be possible to make final selection of those who arc to be given parts in his next picture.
Those who were photographed were Ituby Ru.sh, Frances Records. Pauline Courtney, Wanda Connery, Paula Allyn Long. Ituth Harris Graydon. Dadie Harvey, Mary Bonheur. Kvelyn Carewe. Violet Lewis and Hazel Jamieson.
"Beauty alone will not win before the camera." said Mr. Hermann, after the iests had been made. "I am in need of special types, and personality must enter into the final selection. A woman endowed with good looks plus wholesome and winning personality, will be given preference over those who may be beautiful but who are unable to register personality on the screen.
"For that reason it will be necessary for me to see each contestant on the screen and then compare notes on personality, beauty •.nd general screen values. Sometimes a girl may be exceedingly beautiful, but she does not walk gracefully. Or she may be vivacious and very wonderful off the screen, but this trait may not register with the camera. However, I expect within a short time to announce the final winners in the contest."
"Something More,"' soon to be produced by Mr. Hermann, will be a sequel to "That Something," recently released by this company, and which is making a wonderful hit with audiences wherever shown. It enjoyed a five weeks' run at a Broadway theater in Los Angeles.
